Cant do it.. I'm shy

I was working with a client who came to see me because she was incapable of speaking to groups. I asked her, 'Why can't you speak to groups and why is this so important'.? She told me that she was getting married and wanted to speak at the reception but couldn't as she was so shy. I asked her, 'When do you know it's time to be shy'? I know you're not shy all the time....

She said ,'I know it's time to be shy when I'm going to meet people'... I replied, ' Well what makes you shy? She said, 'I don't think they'll like me', this was almost exactly the same process as one of the demonstrations I observed during my training and the answer was simple. I said to her 'there are a group of people in reception , I want you to think they'll like you, alright? Are you shy about meeting them? 'No' she said! It was that easy. Before she was thinking anything else except that they liked her. Who would have thought change could be simple... but it really is.
